Diamondback®: Approved for use in the USA and Canada.
Diamondback® corrugated, semi rigid stainless steel fitting (CSST) is a certified engineering system of piping, fittings and components. It is compliant with most local, state and national model building codes, and may be installed in most areas as an alternative to rigid black iron pipe.
Although relatively new on the market, many millions of feet of CSST have been installed in construction projects around the country. It's ideal for single family, multiple family, or light commercial buildings, and for new construction, remodeling or retrofit.
Diamondback® CSST provides inherent advantages for gas pipe installations. It begins at the gas meter and runs to the multiport manifold, where individual lines are run to each gas appliance in the building, much the same as electrical wiring is installed. It's very fast to install, and requires far less physical labor than heavy, messy black iron pipe that requires heavy cutting and threading machinery on every installation. Here are a few of Diamondback's® labor saving features:
- Flexibility that allows it to snake easily through wall studs, under floors, in long continuous runs, and around obstacles.
- Light weight that makes it easier to handle and install. A complete system for an entire house can fit into a small vehicle.
- Up to 75% fewer fittings are required for the average installation, compared to black iron pipe. That means much faster installations and much less potential for leaks.
- Labor savings as reported by the Gas Research Institute that can range from 24% to 66% on new construction projects, up to a whopping 72% on rehab jobs. Simple hand tools are all that's needed. The learning curve is very short.
- The multiport manifold offers easy future expansion capabilities for gas logs, spa or room additions. Unused ports are simply capped at the time of installation and used later as the need arises. Higher load capacity accommodates additions.
- Every foot of piping is marked for easy measurement and tracking of material costs.
- Tight quality assurance includes 100% testing of every spool of CSST before it leaves the factory.
